How did you get your start in radio?
I was going to be a band director and while on a student teaching assignment, the kids locked me out of the band room, poked me with hangers and generally tortured me. Can you say, CAREER CHANGE? A friend of mine had just gotten into radio, so I figured I'd give it a shot, too, since it involved music. I'm still working on the talking part!
What is your favorite part about the job?
The listeners (just when I think I've heard it all)!
Tell us a little about your personal life.
I was born in Oklahoma City, grew up in Moore and spent five years earning a four-year degree in Norman at the University of Oklahoma. I married an OKC cop from Pennsylvania and we have two teenaged kids, Carly and Dillon, who think we're clueless and totally un-cool.
Any personal secrets you wanna share?
I have four kidneys, so I'm the Marilyn Monroe of the organ donor market!
Favorite radio interview? Or worst? Tell us the dirt!
I loved my Carrie Underwood interview because I was the first person to ask her about her tattoo and to get her to admit to having one -- or TWO -- as it turned out. It was a pretty big scoop at the time. If you want to know what they are and where they are, you'll have to e-mail me.
What famous person would you like to have dinner with, dead or alive?
I'd love to have dinner with John Travolta, although I probably wouldn't do much eating.
What would you say are your 5 favorite songs?
Only five? Well, here are a few that always make me reach for the volume knob whenever I hear them: "My Sharona" by the Knack, "And We Danced" by the Hooters, "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" by Wang Chung, "You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC, and "I Just Wanna Stop" by Gino Vannelli (best romantic song EVER).
Your last meal on earth would be?
Nothing, I'd be drinking! Heavily! Seriously!
How do you like to relax?
Playing my guitar and writing music.
What, if any, sports have you played?
Softball and powder puff football.
One guilty pleasure that's totally impractical you won't give up.
My new car (goodbye minivan)!
Favorite cartoon character growing up? or even today?
Superman; brains, brawn and TIGHTS!
If you had to leave the country and never come back, where would you move?
Canada because it's just like the U.S., only cleaner.
If you weren't in radio, what would your job be?
I'd be doing music full-time; playing, teaching and writing.
If you won the lotto, what's the first thing you would do with the money?
Get some plastic surgery (why are people now offering to buy me lottery tickets???)
Give us something really random about yourself.
I wrote my school's fight song in the 7th grade and they still perform it today.
If you had to be an animal, what would you be?
A house cat because they do as they please and live in comfort.

Some disco thing that came with my phone. Can you change them?
Name one thing you worry about running out of.
Water (sorry, but I'm a very practical person).

I'm sorta psychic, does that count? For example, I can tell when my kids are lying and when they're about to ask for money! I also predicted the Hindenburg disaster.

Milk, ketchup and expired sausage.
If you could go back or forward in time, where would you go?
The oil boom of 1980. People had money to burn and gold nugget pinkie rings. It was like the Roaring Twenties around here!

The first Indiana Jones flick.
What CD is in your stereo?
A mix CD my daughter made for me.
If they made a movie about your life, what actor/actress would be you?

Would you rather die in a blaze of glory or peacefully in your sleep?
I took every pain killer known to man when I had my kids, so I'm all about a pain-free exit (preferably during a John Travolta dream).

How did you get your start in radio?
I started as a radio station mascot for a very small rock station just outside of Chicago. I was the WABT "Wabbitt". It was a six foot tall bunny costume that smelled like mildew, sweat and vomit. I would show up at car dealers, bank openings and outdoor festivals just to get beat up. I later worked my way into doing the overnight shift at the same station.
